Hello Everybody!

As always we begin with this month’s weather review. With temperatures reaching around 20 degrees it has been a very warm and pleasant month. That said, we do need a good rain (sorry about that!)

April quizzes were a great success with 132 quizzers attending, which raised a grand total of £264! Which has been sent and received by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, thank you to everyone who took part!

The first quiz on 21st April with 68 players taking part. The quiz was won by Awesome Foursome with 120 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the category pot luck, with the question being “ What do you call an eagle’s nest?” The correct answer was ‘an eyrie’ which the Neighbours Quiz team answered correctly and won £120!

Our second quiz took place on Tuesday 28th April with 64 players taking part. The quiz was won by Team Belton with 123 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the category of Ladies Tennis. The question was “Who won the first Wimbledon Ladies Championship?” The answer was Maud Watson in 1884 where she defeated her sister Lilian Watson, 6-8, 6-3 and 6-3. Unfortunately the contestant failed to answer correctly.

As the first 1-2-1 question was answered correctly in the first quiz, the prize for May will revert to £100.

Our next quizzes will take place on Tuesday 19th May and Tuesday 26th May, both starting at 7:45pm, with the chance of winning £100 with the 1-2-1 question! We offer Quiz Basket Meals at £7.50, served from 5:45pm. We are already taking bookings! Extension of the Garden Area:

The extension to our garden area is now complete, and with the recent good weather it has proven to be a great success. On our warmer days, it has been absolutely packed! We are excited to see it continue to be busy throughout the summer!

Drinks:

At the bar, you’ll find our usual range of beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. We have made a small change to our beer selection, the Batemans 5G and St Georges has been replaced with Batemans XXXB. We are also getting Thatcher’s Fusion, this includes blood orange, cloudy lemon and dark berry flavours.

Our regular beers now include: Carling, Stella, Thatcher’s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doombar, Timothy Taylor’s, Batemans XXXB and Thatcher’s Fusion.

Soccer World Cup:

With the Soccer World Cup taking place in the Unities States this June we will be celebrating throughout the tournament! Whilst most matches fall outside our usual food opening times, we will be serving traditional American hot dogs for the duration of the World Cup, alongside our regular menu. Join us in the spirit of the tournament and enjoy a taste of the USA!

New Preparation Area:

We will be extending our storage area to include a dedicated food preparation space. This will ensure that when we host events at the pub, preparation work won’t interfere with our normal menu service.
