Hello Everybody!
As always we begin with this month’s weather review. We have enjoyed some beautifully warm, sunny days that have felt like summer, only for them to be followed by colder spells and bitter winds! Summer began on 29th March and with the clocks moving forward, we can look ahead to longer days and hopefully more consistent warmer weather.
March quizzes were a great success with 115 quizzers attending, which raised a grand total of £257! Which has been sent and received by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, thank you to everyone who took part!
The first quiz on 24th March and was won by Team Belton with 123 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the category of Pot Luck, the question being “What country started the trend of calling wine Plonk?” The correct answer was Australia but the contestant answered France which was unfortunately incorrect.
On Tuesday 31st March the second quiz was won by Bubblehead and Skimmer with 127 points, they kindly donated their cash prize to the Air Ambulance, thank you and well done! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the category of Classic TV, with the question “Who played Chief Superintendent Charlie Barlow in Z-Cars?” The correct answer was Stratford Johns but unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly.
In total over the years the quizzes have raised £19,206.65p!
Our next quizzes will take place on Tuesday 21st April and Tuesday 28th April, both starting at 7:45pm, with the chance of winning £120 with the 1-2-1 question! We offer Quiz Basket Meals at £7.50, served from 5:45pm. We are already taking bookings! So don’t waste any time and book with us now, please call 01529 414092 to reserve your team table or ask one of our lovely staff members at the bar! If you have booked and cannot attend please let us know.
Extension of the Garden Area:
The extension to the garden area is almost complete with just the new planters to be set out. We hope to be finished around Easter, once again weather permitting!
Drinks:
At the bar, you’ll find our usual range of beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. Our regular beers include: Carling, Stella, Thatcher’s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor’s, Batemans Hooker and Alpacalypse.
We have one barrel of Alpacalypse left, once this is gone it will be replaced by Thatcher’s Fusion, this includes blood orange, cloudy lemon and dark berry flavours. The Batemans Hooker will also be replaced by Batemans St Georges Glory a 4.2 ABV ale. Batemans describes this as a glorious, English beer with a soft bitterness and zesty aroma.
Thank you everyone for supporting the Horseshoes.
Kindest Regards,
Paul Steer, Director

Planning for the Future
I have for some time been looking at ways I can ensure that The Horseshoes can continue as a public house for many years to come.
Many of you will know the manager Louise Nelson is already a director of the trading arm of the pub (that is the part that sells alcoholic drinks and food etc). I can now announce that Louise has become a 49% shareholder of the company as of the 26/03/2026/ myself (Paul Steer) holding 51% of the shares. I have every confidence that Louise will continue running the Horseshoes successfully for many years to come and I wish her well.
Your sincerely,
Paul Steer- Director
