Hello Everybody,

As always we begin with this month’s weather review. In just two words: VERY HOT! We have seen record-high temperatures, making our new beer garden a popular spot. Whilst we have enjoyed the sunshine, we’re looking forward to slightly cooler weather that will make spending time outdoors a little more comfortable.

June quizzes were again a great success with 86 quizzers attending, which raised total of £172 plus a £28 worth of donations making an impressive total of £200. This has been sent and received by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, thank you to everyone who took part!

The first quiz held on the 23rd June was affected by England playing in the World Cup that evening. Despite this, we welcomed 23 players, forming six teams for an enjoyable night of friendly competition. Congratulations to ‘Four the Record’ for winning with an impressive 101 points, well done to them! We would also like to thank CMJ, who kindly donated their prize money back, your generosity is greatly appreciated. The 1-2-1 question contestant selected 1960s pop music, the question being ‘Diana Ross, Florence Ballard and which other singer made up the third member of the Supremes?’ The correct answer was Mary Wilson, unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly.

Our second quiz took place on Tuesday 30thJune with 63 players forming 14 teams. Congratulations to ‘The Not so Golden Oldies’ for winning with an impressive 116 points, well done to them! Thank you to Tom Foreman’s Team who donated their prize money back to the charity and there was a further donation of £2. The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the topic classic TV, the question being ‘In the Western Adventure the Lone Ranger, who played the Lone Ranger and which actor played Tonto?’ The Lone Ranger was played by Clayton Moore and Tonto was played by Jay Silverheels, unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly, therefore the 1-2-1 question in July will be worth £120.

Our next quizzes will take place on Tuesday 21st and Tuesday 28th July, both starting at 7:45pm, with the chance of winning £120 with the 1-2-1 question! We offer Quiz Basket Meals at £7.50, served from 5:45pm. We are already taking bookings! Father’s Day Success

Father’s Day was a great success for The Horseshoes, with 89 meals being served in just three hours. We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support, as well as our hardworking staff, whose dedication and teamwork helped make the day run smoothly.

Sweep Stake

Have you checked whether your team is still in the World Cup Sweepstake? As we write this on 1st July, we are down to 32 teams remaining, if your team is still in the competition, there’s still everything to play for!

We are especially pleased that England are among the remaining 32. Good luck to everyone taking part in the sweepstake, we will keep you updated as the tournament progresses.

High Temperatures

The recent spell of very hot weather has certainly made its presence felt! Whilst we have all been enjoying the sunshine, the high temperatures have made it much more difficult to keep our fridges, freezers and drinks at their ideal serving temperatures. We appreciate your understanding and we are doing everything we can to keep the bar and restaurant cool when you visit.

Now that Thatcher’s Fusion is on tap, it’s the perfect refreshment to enjoy this warm weather, as previously said we will do our very best to keep all of our drinks cool despite the challenging conditions.

Most importantly please take care in this hot weather!

Beers

At the bar, you’ll find our usual range of beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. Our regular beers now include: Carling, Stella, Thatcher’s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doombar, Timothy Taylor, Batemans XXXB and Thatcher’s Fusion- Cloudy Lemonade, Blood Orange, Apple and Blackcurrant.

We are delighted to introduce a new range of Premium Gins! We are now serving Massingberd-Mundy, including Marie Jeanne’s Gin and Burrell’s Dry Gin. We would love to hear which flavour is your favourite!

New Project

Our next project is an extension of our store room, which we will create a dedicated food preparation area. The new prep area will allow us to continue serving customers whilst prepping for events, which will improve our efficiency and help us provide excellent service. We are excited to see this project take shape and look forward to the benefits it will bring for both our customers and staff.

Coffee Machine

We’re delighted to announce that our brand-new coffee machine supplied by Stokes Coffee of Lincoln arrives on Monday 6 July!

After experiencing ongoing issues with our previous machine, we’ve decided it was time for an upgrade. We can’t wait to serve you barista-quality coffees, just as they should be.

Our new machine will offer a fantastic range of hot drinks, including:

-Latte

-Cappuccino

-Americano

-Double Espresso

-Flat White

-Mocha

-Hot Chocolate

-Hot Milk

You can also personalise your drink with a selection of flavoured syrups.

Event Saturday

Please note our kitchen will be closed from 1pm on Saturday 4th July due to an event being held. A part of the new garden area will be reserved for this event which is a 50th Wedding Anniversary however the bar as will the balance of the beer garden area will remain open as usual.
