Hello Everybody!

As always we begin with this month’s weather review. What a month it has been! We have seen record-high temperatures, unfortunately very little rain but then again, we are never quite happy with the weather, are we?

May quizzes were again a great success with 123 quizzers attending, which raised a total of £246 plus £14 in donations to make a grand total £260! This has been sent and received by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, thank you to everyone who took part.

The first quiz was held on Tuesday 19th May with 14 teams consisting of 64 players. The quiz was won by Team Belton with 143 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the topic music, the question being ‘Who wrote the words and music for the original film The Sound of Music?’ The correct answer being Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The contestant answered correctly and won £100, well done to them!

Our second quiz took place on Tuesday 26th May with 13 teams consisting of 59 players. The quiz was won by Round the Horn with 123 points and it being their first win, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the category of Life in the Ocean. The question being ‘What does the whale shark feed on?’ The correct answer was Plankton, unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly.

As the first 1-2-1 question was answered correctly in the first quiz, the prize for June will revert to £100.

Our next quizzes will take place on Tuesday 23rd June and Tuesday 30th June, both starting at 7:45pm, with the chance of winning £100 with the 1-2-1 question! We offer Quiz Basket Meals at £7.50, served from 5:45pm. We are already taking bookings! Promotion:

We are delighted to announce that Sinead Williamson has been promoted to Deputy Manager as from 1st June 2026. This promotion reflects Sinead’s hard work, dedication and commitment to both our customers and the business. We would like to congratulate her on this well-deserved achievement and wish her success in her new role.

World Cup:

We will be showing the World Cup matches here at The Horseshoes, provided they are being played at a reasonable viewing time.

Unfortunately, the first England match on 23rd June coincides with our regular quiz night, so we will not be showing that game and we will be prioritising the quiz.

Record Breaking Day:

We are delighted to report that on 30th May we served 136 meals, a record day for the Horseshoes! Thank you to all the customers for supporting us and the staff for their hard work.

Beers:

We are excited to announce that Thatcher’s Fusion will be installed and available from Monday 8th June.

At the bar, you’ll find our usual range of beers, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. Our regular beers now include: Carling, Stella, Thatcher’s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doombar, Timothy Taylor’s and Batemans XXXB.
