Hello Everybody,
The weather report Ladies and Gentlemen – we’ve had an exceptionally dry period but thankfully had a nice drop of rain which has greened up the lawns and refreshed the plants in the garden.
The Quizzes…
The first quiz this month was on Tuesday 20th May and 29 players took part. The 1-2-1 question was “Which is the most southern point of England? Where is it and what is it called?” The answer is Lizard Point in Cornwall. The contestant answered correctly and won £100. Well done to them.
The winners were “For the Record” with 145 points. Well done Quizzers. This quiz raised £58 from entrance fees plus £12 donations giving a total of £70.
The second quiz on 27th May had 73 players present. The 1-2-1 question on this night was “Who wrote Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang: The Magical Car?” The answer is Ian Fleming (yes, the James Bond author). The contestant sadly didn’t give the correct answer. June’s 1-2-1 Question will have a prize of £100.
This quiz raised £146 in entrance plus £22 in donations which totalled £168. The winners were the “Round The Horn” Well done to them!
The grand total raised for Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance in May was £228 which has been sent to and received by them. Thank you everyone.
The next quizzes will take part on 17th and 24th June 2025. Quiz meals are £7 and served from 5.45pm until 7.30pm. You can always book your meal in advance and we will try to let everyone know what the basket meals will be for each quiz night.
As always, please book your team table. If you do book and find out at a later date you cannot attend please let us know. Also, if team numbers change do let us know so we can amend the table lay-out as some quizzes are very popular and on some nights every seat counts.
The Alpacalypse is staying due to its popularity which means our bar line-up now is Alpacalypse, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Doom Bar, Guinness, Stella, Birra Moretti and Carling and our cider is Thatcher’s Gold. We also stock a wide range of wines and spirits, alcohol free beers and ciders and also gluten free beers and, of course, soft drinks.
We are introducing a limited range of cocktails. We have it on good authority that the Espresso Martini is very good! Please ask at the bar for details.
The Landlord’s Choice Menu will be available on Saturday 9th July. It will have an Asian theme. The Summer BBQ will be held on Saturday 16th August. Tickets will be available from 1st July.
