Hello Everybody,
This month’s weather review; we’ve had spells of very mild weather and some cold weather and some spells of heavy rain. Not a lot more you can say but we wonder what December will bring.
November’s quizzes were attended by 106 people in total which means £212 has been sent to and received by Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.
The first quiz on 18th November was won by Pinfold Wizards with 132 points. Well done to them. 12 teams attended made up of 54 people. The 1-2-1 question contestant chose the topic of Women’s Tennis. The question was “Which female tennis player took the Grand Slam and the inaugural Olympic Gold medal in 1988?” The answer is Steffi Graf but unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly.
On Tuesday 25th November the winners were Team Belton with a score of 122 points. There were 9 teams taking part, made up of 52 players. The chosen 1-2-1 Question topic was Pot Luck and the question was “In what year did the first National Lottery Draw take place in the UK?” The contestant answered correctly and won for her team £180. The contestant worked out the date very methodically using the date she moved into the village as a guide. The year was 1994.
Our next usual quizzes will take place on Tuesdays 20th and 27th January starting at 7.45pm. The 1-2-1 prize will reset at £100. Quiz Basket Meals are £7.50 and served from 5.45pm. We are already taking bookings for this quiz so call us on 01529 414092 to reserve your team table.
The Christmas Family Quizzes take place on Tuesdays 23rd and 30th December starting at the earlier time of 7pm. Quiz Meals will be served from 5pm. There are very few spaces left for the Christmas Quizzes so if you would like to join us please book as soon as possible. At these quizzes entry is £3 per adult but FREE for children 12 years of age and under. The entry fee will be split between St Barnabas Hospice and St Denis’ Church, Silk Willoughby. There will be no monetary prizes but there will be the usual prizes of potatoes, sprouts and all the other good stuff the kids love at Christmas. There will be spot prizes for 1-2-1 children’s questions. This is a chance for the children to join in and run up with the answer.
Carols at The Horseshoes will take place on Wednesday 17th December at 7.30pm and Kip and Dave of Winter Wilson will lead the singing. We will be serving complimentary mulled wine and mince pies at half-time
On New Year’s Eve we are serving a Charcuterie Board for Two which is £34.95 and includes a bottle of wine. This will be served from 5pm to 8.30pm and booking is essential.
From 9pm there will be music from the band Amber as they play hits from across the decades. This is not a ticketed event; everyone is welcome.
We would like to remind everyone that we will open from 11am to 2pm on Christmas Day but will not be serving food. On Boxing Day we will open at 12pm till 5pm and again, the kitchen will be closed.
Batemans 5G is on special offer at £3.50 per pint at the moment so we can make room to welcome our Christmas special Rosey Nosey back to the bar.
Thank you all very much for supporting The Horseshoes over the past 12 months,
Kindest regards
Paul Steer – Director
