A note from our Landlord…
Hello Everybody,
As tradition now dictates; the weather report for the last month. It’s been relatively mild for the time of year. We’ve had spells of very dry weather mixed in with short spells of wet weather but still no snow, thankfully.
As you will be aware by now, the quiz is split into two nights in each month. The quizzes were held on 22nd and 29th October.
The first quiz had 25 attendees which raised £50 in entrance fees. The second placed team, Derrick and Friends, kindly donated their full £20 prizes back to charity for which we thank them.
The 1-2-1 question was chosen on the topic of History. The question was “Who was the first Prime Minister of the UK after the Second World War?” The answer was Clement Attlee and the contestant answered correctly and won £160! They kindly donated £20 back to the charity. Thank you again to them.
The overall winners of the quiz were Team Belton with 137 points. Congratulations!
In total the donations to the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance for this quiz was £90.
On 29th October there were 52 quizzers who paid to enter but 51 took part. This raised £104 for the Air Ambulance. One quizzer donated £3 and another £10 so this brought the total to £117 for this quiz.
The 1-2-1 question was chosen on the topic of Books. The question was “ Who wrote the novel The 39 Steps?” The answer was John Buchan. Unfortunately the contestant got the answer wrong. The 1-2-1 prize next month will be reset at £100.
In total October’s quizzes raised £207 which has now been sent to and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
The quizzes this month will be held on 19th and 26th November. Quiz meals are £6.50 and served from 5.45pm. You can book your team table by calling us or asking at the bar. As always if you find out closer to the date that you can no longer attend then please do let us know.
Some people have already started booking to take part in the Christmas Family Quiz which is being held on Sunday 29th December starting at 7pm. Please do book your table as soon as you can to avoid disappointment.
On the subject of Christmas, we’re very pleased to announce that our Carols at The Horseshoes event will take place on Wednesday 18th December, starting at 7.30pm with the singing being led by the wonderful Winter Wilson, AKA Dave and Kip. Complimentary mince pies and mulled wine will be served.
We have had lots of Christmas Party bookings and only have a few dates left with availability and will post these dates later on Facebook.
The Landlord’s Choice evening has now be put in the diary for Saturday 18th January. The menu will be game-based including venison, partridge and pheasant. Full details will be released soon.
We will soon be stocking bottled Hawkstone Premium 4.8%ABV and Session 4%ABV lagers as advertised by the former presenter of Top Gear, and owner of Clarkson’s Farm & Diddly Squat Farm Shop, Jeremy Clarkson.
