Hello October

Hello Everybody

According to the equinox on 23rd September we are now officially in Autumn but the weather has been very kind to us with some rain but very mild conditions. Hopefully we won’t have to start lighting the fire until 1st November.

The September quiz had another magnificent attendance of 94 players. This means £188 was raised which has already been sent to and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

The subject chosen for the 1-2-1 question was history and the question was “Who led the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381?” The answer being Wat Tyler. Unfortunately the contestant gave a wrong answer and so in October the 1-2-1 question will have a prize of £120.

The next quiz is on Tuesday 31st October which is Halloween so expect some spooky questions. The quiz starts at 7.45pm. Please book a table for your team and as usual, if you find closer to the time that you can no longer attend, do let us know. Quiz meals will be available from 5.45pm to 7.45pm.

Our current guest ale is Combined Harvest, along with our usual beers; Carling, Stella, Birra Moretti, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor Landlord, Guinness, Thatcher’s Gold  and Hopical Storm. We also stock a range of low and no alcohol beers and even Alcohol Free gin!

Our next guest beer, which is coming soon to coincide with the Rubgy Union World Cup, is Batemans Hooker which is a 4.5%ABV light amber pale ale and will be £4.50 per pint.

On 2nd August we announced that the Government were imposing a wine tax but it all seemed rather confusing, and still does! So, as we stated then, none of our bar prices will go up until the start of December, if then.

Last month we announced the dates for our various festive events and all of these are on Facebook and our website. Bookings are coming in fast for Christmas parties so please ask to see the menu or check the website.

We are continuing with our Sunday menu into the winter months and our new full Winter Menu will be released soon.

As mentioned on Friday we are now featured in the Good Beer Guide 2024 which means we are in the top 10% of pubs in Britain.

Thank you,

Kindest Regards,

Paul Steer, Landlord/ Owner

Louise Nelson, Manager
