Once again, here we are at the beginning of July and we seem to be in a spell of warm weather, if somewhat cloudy at times.
It means people are able to sit out in the garden area and enjoy a refreshing pint of something or other and a meal if they so desire. It does seem odd that we have already had the longest day (June 21st) and the nights are starting to draw in but we still have the whole of summer to look forward to.
We had 48 players at the quiz on Tuesday 28th June which gave us £96 for the Air Ambulance. On top of that, 2 of the winning teams kindly donated their winnings which means in total Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance have received £116.
The 1-2-1 question was in the category 60s Pop, as chosen by the quizzer and was “Name the 4 original members of The Shadows”, the answer being Hank B. Marvin, Bruce Welch, Jet Harris and Tony Meehan. Unfortunately the contestant gave the wrong answer and so the prize rolls over and the 1-2-1 question in July will be worth £100.
As always, please book your tables early for July’s quiz which takes place on Tuesday July 26th at 8pm and if you can’t make it do let us know the table is free as the quiz is very popular.
Thank you once again to everybody that came to our Queen’s 70th Jubilee BBQ where we raised £538.29 for the Air Ambulance. Thank you to those who bought tickets, made donations and to the staff who worked on the day who donated the tips they received.
We recently launched our Christmas Day menu which is on our website and Facebook page and we are already taken booking. The numbers will be limited to 45 with only one sitting.
Our Christmas Party menus will be released shortly, as will our agenda for New Year’s Eve where we have entertainment already booked. The restaurant will be open as usual until 8pm.
As we write this we still have a second cook/ chef’s position to be filled in the kitchen and a bit later in the year, as some staff move on to university, there will be positions Front of House to be filled.
Our guest beer at the moment is Adnam’s Ghost Ship which is a citrus pale ale, 4.5% ABV and £4.30 per pint. We also have our very popular Doom Bar and other beers.
Thank you to everybody for supporting The Horseshoes. The doors are open and will remain so despite all the problems that surround our industry as well as many others.
