A note from the Landlord

Hello Everybody,

Here we are 1st August with the holiday season in full swing. July was a particularly busy month for the Horseshoes, Thank you to everybody.

The weather has been very kind to us apart from when it was 104 degrees! That was a little on the warm side.

As we speak temperatures are more normal for this time of the year and once again people are sitting in the garden enjoying a drink and a meal and the only thing getting fried is the chips!

Unfortunately we are suffering from a lack of rain which is now causing all our lawns and grassy areas to look a bit browned off. We’re never happy are we?

The quiz in July was attended by 48 players so £96 has been sent to LNAA. The 1-2-1 question, which was worth £100 was “What is a young Kangaroo called?”, the answer being a Joey. Unfortunately the contestant gave the wrong answer so the August 1-2-1 question will be worth £120. That quiz takes place on 30th August, starting at 8pm. As usual please book a table and aswe  always say, if you find you can’t make it closer to the time please let us know so we can allocate that table to another team.

Last month we mentioned our Christmas Day Lunch menu was now available and we’re already taking bookings. Just as a reminder it’s £68 for adults and £45 for children 12 and under. We only have one sitting so therefore it’s a very relaxed atmosphere. On NYE the restaurant will be open 12 to 8pm and there will be entertainment.

Our Race Night in conjunction with Silk Willoughby Village Hall Management Committee will take place on Saturday 17th September. Tickets are £5 and include a basket meal supper and are on sale now in the pub.

Our aim is still to start Sunday Lunches hopefully sometime in September as the staffing in the kitchen is still an issue, although we hope to have this sorted out now very soon.

Our Guest Ales are Batemans Yella Belly and London Pride plus we have our usual range of ales which includes Doom Bar.

We’re also serving Pimm’s by the jug or glass which people are enjoying.

Thank you to everybody for your continued support,

Kindest Regards

Paul Steer, Landlord
