Coronation of King Charles III

Hello Everybody

Due to the Bank Holiday Monday yesterday we decided to enjoy the day and move the Landlord’s Note to today, 2nd May.

The pub enjoyed an excellent Bank Holiday weekend and we’re now all looking forward to the Coronation weekend starting on 6th May.

Some of you may have already bought tickets for our Coronation Celebration on Saturday 6th May. We still have some tickets available and they are £7.50 each with £1 of each ticket sold shared between St Barnabas Hospice and Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance. Tickets are now limited and the last ones are available on a first come first served basis.

The April quiz was attended by 76 players which meant £152 was raised plus one of the winning teams kindly donated their prize back plus several other donations were made which meant a total of £220 was sent and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

The 1-2-1 question was “Who did the Praetorian guard protect?” The answer was Roman Emperors. The contestant answered Julius Caesar and I decided to award him the prize of £260. It transpires that Julius Caesar wasn’t in fact a Roman Emperor so I have decided to start the 1-2-1 prize at £260 again in May to continue from where we were in order to be fair to all players.

The next quiz is on Tuesday 30th May. Quiz basket meals are served from 5pm and are £6.50 each. The quiz starts at 8pm. As usual please book your tables and if you do find closer to the date that you can no longer attend then please do let us know.

As the weather is starting to get warmer, as of Sunday 14th May between 12pm and 4pm,  we will serve light bites and basket meals instead of Sunday lunches.

Also that weekend, Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th May from 12pm to 4pm The Horseshoes will be hosting an art exhibition by local artist, Geraldine Thompson. All artworks shown will be for sale and 10% of sales will go to St Barnabas Hospice.

As mentioned previously, on Saturday July 8th we will celebrate the 10 Year Anniversary of the re-opening of The Horseshoes. Further details will be announced following the Coronation of King Charles III.

Jewel in the Crown is our current guest beer but is a seasonal special so once it has gone it has gone for good. Our next beer will be Batemans XXXB as well as all the usual beers…Doom Bar, Guinness, Hopical Storm etc..

We hope you enjoy the Coronation,

Kindest Regards,

Paul Steer, Landlord/ Owner

Louise Nelson, Manager
