It’s April already!

Hello Everybody,

Finally the clocks have gone forward and British Summer Time has arrived. The weather is certainly getting drier but we still have this cool breeze blowing. Not exactly the weather yet to sit on Skegness Beach.

There were 81 players in the March quiz; this raised £162 for the Air Ambulance. Two prize-winning teams donated their prize money of £25 plus there was a £1 donation which means £188 has been sent and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

The category chosen for the 1-2-1 question was History. The question was “What started in London in 1665?” The answer is The Great Plague. Unfortunately the contestant guessed The Great Fire of London but this was in 1666 so the 1-2-1 prize at April’s quiz will be £160.

Our aim is to still limit the numbers to 90 quizzers and the March quiz met this goal but only because of ill-health and some teams being down on the numbers they had originally booked. This did mean the quiz ran more smoothly and on time so please do book early if you want to join our quiz and please do cancel if you find closer to the time that you can no longer attend. The quiz starts at 7.45pm and quiz basket meals are served from 5.45pm to 7.30pm and are £6.50 each.

We mentioned that we had some outstanding food service days in February but we’ve once again broken the record for number of meals served in a day as we served 118 on Saturday 9th March. Thank you to everyone who came along to enjoy our hospitality and also to our wonderful staff.

Hopefully, as the temperatures rise, customers will be able to enjoy our food and drink in our garden area where we can seat 32 people.

Our current guest ale is Batemans Brewery 5G which has been brewed to celebrate 150 years of brewing and so named because of the 5 generations of Batemans brewing their beers. It is a light amber Session IPA with a smooth biscuity flavour and a delightful hop aroma of peach, pineapple, mango and passionfruit. It is 4.2% ABV and £4.90 per pint. Of course, we have our other regular beers, wines and spirits and a good selection of alcohol free options.

We hope you’ve all had a lovely Easter.

Kindest regards
