Spring has sprung

Hello Everybody,

First of all, our monthly weather review. Whilst it has been a little colder as of late it is still relatively mild for the time of year and the mornings are getting lighter and the nights are starting to draw out so hopefully spring is just a short time away. Then the garden area will be open for people to sit out and enjoy some fresh air and good beer and food.

There were 66 players at the February quiz which meant  £132 was raised plus the fourth placed team very kindly donated their prize of £10 which gave a grand total of £142 which has now been sent and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

The 1-2-1 question in February was “Who played Tonto in the 2013 film version of the TV Series, The Lone Ranger?” The answer was Johnny Depp. Unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly and so the 1-2-1 prize for March will be £240!

The next quiz will be held on 28th March starting at 8pm. As always please reserve your table and let us know if nearer the date you find you can no longer attend, thank you. Quiz Basket meals will be served from 5pm to 7.45pm at £6.50 each.

Please remember the Village Hall are hosting their Charity Race Night at The Horseshoes this Saturday, 4th March. Tickets are £5 and this includes a basket meal. Food will be served from 6pm with the first race held at 7pm. All profits will go to charity. Tickets are available at the bar.

We held Sunday Lunch on 19th February and 53 lunches were served.

Bookings are now being taken for Mothering Sunday Lunch on 19th March and also Easter Sunday on 9th April. Full details and menus are available at the bar or on the website or call 01529 414092 for reservations.

We can now announce that alongside Silk Willoughby Village Hall and Parish Council The Horseshoes will be holding an event to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III in May. Details are now being finalised and will be announced shortly.

If you haven’t already added this date in your diary, this is just a reminder we’ll be holding our 10 year Anniversary of the re-opening of the Horseshoes on Saturday 8th July. We’ll provide further details closer to the date.

We have recently added Timothy Taylor’s Hopical Storm, a 4% ABV pale ale, to the bar which is proving very popular with customers and we still have Batemans Hooker as our Guest Ale along with all of our usual beers and lagers.

We do acknowledge that the cost of food and fuel, etc continues to rise for us all but we should never forget that pubs are a vital part of any community so to ensure they survive is essential. So once again we thank everyone who comes along and supports The Horseshoes in these difficult times.

Thank you and kindest regards

Paul Steer, Landlord and Owner
