We remain in Tier 3

Hello everybody. So now we know the Tier system for the rest of December. For us, as for a large amount of the country, it is Tier 3. Whilst to say at the very least this is extremely disappointing it is no surprise. It means we cannot open at all in December, so all our hoped-for Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve and Quiz opening hours will not now happen.

In truth, for The Horseshoes to open and be anything like normal and viable we have to be in Tier 1. Tier 2, with its ludicrous substantial meal regulation, is not a viable option although we would try and work something out when this comes about, which it will. We cannot see any area going from Tier 3 to Tier 1 in one go. Hopefully we’re wrong. The government have also extended the furlough scheme till the end of April 2021. This is not a good sign. It means they (the government) do not expect the situation to get any better any time soon.

As a race of beings our one big hope is that the vaccines can be rolled out very quickly and be effective. The next Tier review is later this month (December) or very early January 2021. Until then there is very little more we can say other than to repeat that we will reopen as soon as it is viable to do so, but, reopen we certainly will.

As always we are thankful to say we are alive to talk about the situation. A further landlord message will appear at the beginning of January 2021. We thank you for all your Christmas cards and good will messages. From all at The Horseshoes have a safe and as Merry Christmas and peaceful New Year as possible.

Thank you, keep well,

Kindest Regards

Paul Steer, Landlord
