A note from the Landlord
Hello Everybody,
Here we are 1st December with Christmas now only 24 days away. We must mention that the weather is still being very kind to us for the time of year. Snow for Christmas? The Christmas tree is up and we’re all starting to get into the festive spirit.
The quiz numbers were down this month, we think due to England playing in the World Cup on that Tuesday but we still had 35 players so £70 has been sent and received by Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.
The 1-2-1 contestant chose history for the question, it being “Who was the first Prime Minister of this country”. The answer was Sir Robert Walpole. Unfortunately the contestant gave the wrong answer and so the prize for January will be £200. If there are still pub quizzes in 50 years and the question is “Who was the Prime Minister in the year 2022?” they’ll have plenty of choice!
The next quiz will be on 27th December starting at the earlier time of 7pm as this is a family quiz. We will be serving Quiz Basket Meals from 5pm till 6.45pm. The proceeds from our Christmas Family Quiz, as usual, will go to St Denis’ Church, Silk Willoughby.
Sunday Lunch on 13th November was extremely popular with 44 diners joining us. Further dates for Sunday Lunches will be announced in the New Year.
Guest beers as of today are England Expects, 4.0% ABV and Rosey Nosey which is a 4.9% ABV Christmas Beer created with English Challenger and Golding hops
We are now fully booked for Christmas Day but do feel free to come and see us for a drink.
For the rest of December we have the Silk Willoughby Village Hall Christmas Raffle Draw on the 17th at 11am. Then we have our festive Carols at The Horseshoes on 21st December starting at 6.30pm where we’ll be singing our favourite carols and enjoying a complimentary glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.
On New Year’s Eve we have the fabulous Amber playing music from across the years starting at 9pm. The restaurant will be open as usual and serving food until 8pm. Booking is strongly advised.

We appreciate that for everyone times are not easy and we thank you all for supporting The Horseshoes through 2022.
None of us know what 2023 will bring but you can be assured we will still be here whatever.
