A note from the Landlord…

Hello Everybody,

Last month we reported that the weather was very cold but I’m sure we’re all delighted to now be basking in sunshine

Seventy-five players attended the June quiz which raised £150 for the Air Ambulance plus one of the winning teams kindly donated their prize plus donations gave a total of £163 which has been sent and received by Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance.

The 1-2-1 contestant chose 60s Pop as their subject. The question was “Who was Adam Faith’s backing group?” The answer was “The Roulettes”. Unfortunately the contestant answered incorrectly and so July’s 1-2-1 question will have a prize of £300! The next quiz will take place on July 25th. Please book your team table in advance and if you find closer to the date that you can no longer attend then please let us know. Quiz meals at £6.50 are served from 5pm and the quiz will start at 7.45pm.

As a matter of interest the June quiz in 2022 last year was attended by 48 players and £116 was sent to the Air Ambulance. The 1-2-1 topic chosen last year was also 60s Pop and we think this is possibly the most popular choice.

The Senior Specials menus have proven very popular and just to remind you we have now extended them so they run from Tuesday up to and including Fridays from 12pm to 3pm.

Light Bites & Basket Meals on Sundays are also proving to be popular and again there is no need to book a table, you can just turn up.

Our guest beers this week will once again be Bateman’s XXXB, Hopical Storm plus all the regulars; Timothy Taylor Landlord, Doom Bar, Carling, Guinness, Birra Moretti etc.

We are able to cater for all sorts of events, from Christenings and Birthdays to small Wedding parties and on Saturday July 8th we are hosting our own Anniversary Party. It is 10 years since The Horseshoes re-opened and we are celebrating with a BBQ. Tickets are £7.50 each and this will make up part of the donation to the four chosen charities that we will be supporting on that day, those being Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance, St Barnabas Hospice, St Denis’ Church, Silk Willoughby and Silk Willoughby Village Hall.

An exhibition showing the pub before and after renovations will be on display in the Restaurant. A complimentary glass of prosecco will be given to all ticket holders on arrival and the BBQ food will be served between 3pm and 8pm. The pub will open at 12pm as usual.

Whilst it’s only July 1st, can you believe we are in the process of agreeing a date for the Carols at The Horseshoes plus other Christmas happenings?

Thank you everyone for supporting The Horseshoes.

Kindest Regards,

Paul Steer, Landlord/ Owner
