Hello Everybody,
First of all we report on the weather and this month there are two words; very hot! We all moan when it’s too hot but not to worry as we’ll all moan when it’s too cold too.
The first quiz of June was on the 17th with 9 teams entered, consisting of 39 players. This raised £78 in entrance fees plus a £20 donation from the 1-2-1 question winners. This totaled £98.
The 1-2-1 question was on the topic of geography and the question was “Where would you have to be to climb Mount Olympus?” The answer was Greece and the contestant answered correctly and won £100, of which they donated £20 to the Air Ambulance. Thank you for that.
The winning team of the quiz with 130 points was Team Belton. Well done to them!
June’s second quiz took place on June 24th. 16 teams entered, made up of 71 players. Entrance fees raised £142 plus we received £24 in cash donations and a £25 donation from the winning team, totalling £191.
The 1-2-1 question was on the subject of transport and the question was “What is the distance between the two rails of a railway track called?” The answer is a gauge which the contestant answered correctly so they won £100 and kindly donated £20 back to the Air Ambulance.
The winning team of the second quiz was Bubblehead and Skimmer with 121 points. Well done to them.
The total raised in June was £289 which has been sent to and received by the Air Ambulance.
Lincs and Notts Air Ambulance have recently updated us with a total of monies raised so far which is £17051.43. Thank you to everyone, past players and present for helping us reach this.
The next quizzes will take part on 22nd and 29th July 2025. Quiz meals are £7 and served from 5.45pm until 7.30pm. You can always book your meal in advance and as always, please book your team table. If you do book and find out at a later date you cannot attend please let us know. Also, if team numbers change do let us know so we can amend the table lay-out as some quizzes are very popular and on some nights every seat counts.
The 1-2-1 Question prize will reset at £100 for July.
The Landlord’s Choice evening takes place on Saturday 19th July. The menu consists of 2 or 3 courses; 2 courses are £20.95 and 3 courses £24.95. Cocktails and mocktails will also be available.
At the end of the meal Paul Steer, Landlord invites you to enjoy a complimentary shot of Sangsom Thai Rum (40% ABV) or a Thai lychee flavoured soft drink, if preferred.
Food will be served from 6 to 8pm and booking is essential so please speak to a member of staff if you would like to reserve a table.
Our bar line-up is Alpacalypse, Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, Doom Bar, Guinness, Stella, Birra Moretti and Carling and our cider is Thatcher’s Gold. We also stock a wide range of wines and spirits, alcohol free beers and ciders and also gluten free beers and, of course, soft drinks. The Thatcher’s Gold Alcohol Free cider is proving to be very popular.
We have introduced a range of cocktails. We are told the mojito is delicious! Please ask at the bar for details.
Our Summer BBQ will be held on Saturday 16th August. Full details and tickets will be available soon.
The weather report says we can expect some rain soon. Let’s hope they’re right!
